Breastfeeding is health for you and your baby.

Breastfeeding protect as from developing diabetes. A U.S. researcher says mothers who don't breastfeed their children may be more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, than mothers who do breastfeed. Breastfeeding is useful for both baby and mother. It turned out that breastfeeding significantly reduces risk of obesity and other disturbances in metabolism which- in general lead to diabetes and heart disease.

Recent studies show that breastfeeding reduces twice the likelihood of developing metabolic syndrome. This syndrome has a complex of symptoms like obesity, high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol level.

Previous studies showed that breastfeeding helps normalize the level of glucose and fats in the blood during the first few weeks after birth.Scientists are tracking the status of women over 20 years. During this period the results shows 120 cases of afterbirth metabolic syndrome. The results obtained from this studies shows that breastfeeding may have long-term beneficial effects on the body.Decrease the likelihood of developing diabetes and heart disease.

"Metabolic syndrome incorporates a number of risk factors associated with obesity and impaired metabolism - the scientist said. - This means development of diabetes in the future or heart disease in middle of their lives. Even the risk of early death.

The decision about breastfeeding is a personal one. the benefits of it are many I will mention just few on top of my head:

Advantages for baby:

  • Mother's milk is good for your baby because it contains all the nutrients your baby needs during the first months of life. No commercial formula can much your milk on nutrients.
  • By breastfeeding you pass antibodies that protect your baby against infections.
  • Your baby is much less likely to need to be admitted to hospital.
  • Breastfeeding reduced the incidence of allergies such as eczema and asthma.
  • Baby tooth and jaw will develop better because baby will probably have to nurse more vigorously that is necessary with some bottle nipples,
  • May help prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Some resent studies show that babies breastfed exclusively for 4 months or longer had a lower SIDS rate than babies who where fed with formula.
  • Your baby is less likely to develop diarrhea or constipation.
  • Breastfeeding may protect baby from high cholesterol levels in adulthood.
  • Short duration of breastfeeding involved another significant risk of recurrent respiratory infections and otitis media. (Breastfeeding.com)
  • Less chance of obesity – Since breast fed babies are able to follow the demands of their appetite, breastfeeding may help reduce the chance of becoming over-weight.
  • Your breast milk is easier to digestdesigned for your baby’s new sensitive digestive system.
  • Breast milk has a natural laxative effect, infants who breastfeed will rarely become constipated.

Advantages for mother:

  • Breastfeeding protects as from developing diabetes.
  • Bonding with your baby.
  • Helps you get back in shape. Breastfeeding helps you lose weight very healthy and fast. Burns up to 500 calories a day.
  • Breastfeeding may offer you protection against developing ovarian cancer, breast cancer and hip fractures.
  • Decreased cost as compared to buying formula.
  • Very convenient. You have your baby food whatever you go and most all it is in a right temperature.
  • Ecologically a better choice for the world.
